Earlier this month, Clearwell was contacted by local radio celebrity Jack the Lad from Heart FM. At first we thought we were being involved in one of his famous prank calls but we were wrong.

Jack was calling to see if we would be willing to help him with an idea he had for a new Halloween video for the Heart Sussex Facebook page. The premise was simple: his co presenters Tom and Nic would have to get from one side of Wickwoods Country Club woods to the other in the dark. However, to spice things up, Jack had hired actors to play zombies and ghouls, installed special lighting, sound effects and other hidden extras in an attempt to scare Tom and Nic as much as possible.

The only problem Jack was facing was that Nic had injured her leg and was struggling to walk without the need for crutches - not ideal when running away from zombies. This is where Clearwell came in. 12th October is World Arthritis Day, and to raise awareness of those suffering from RMD (Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases) we have put together this helpful article to help explain what RMDs are and what is out there to help support those who suffer from an RMD.

Firstly, what are RMDs?

• There are over 150 disease and syndromes which are traditionally associated with joint pain and physical disabilities.
• RMDs are commonly classified into inflammatory and noninflammatory types:
• • Common non-inflammatory RMDs consist of degenerative spine diseases, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia
  • Common inflammatory RMDs consist of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis, connective tissue diseases and polymyalgia rheumatica.
• RMDs are usually associated with any of the following symptoms:
• • Persistent joint pain
  • Tenderness
  • Joint swelling
  • Loss of range of motion or flexibility in a joint

Clearwell are very happy to announce the opening of our new store in Staines-upon-Thames!!

The site was previously occupied by Hearing and Mobility and has been a mobility store for over 20 years! Clearwell have taken over the site, which is the largest in the South East, and plan to return the shop to its former glory.

This new showroom is another step forward for Clearwell in being able to offer our customers across the South East the best possible service and support for all their mobility needs. The sheer size of the showroom means that we will be able to offer our customers a huge range of riser recliner chairs, mobility scooters and Cosyfeet shoes and slippers.

Work at the new showroom will be undertaken progressively to allow our customers to still be able to purchase their essential products as they always have done. We will be keeping everyone up to date with the work on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as we move forward with this exciting chapter in the Clearwell story.

As of Friday, the infamous Clearwell jingle has been back on the airwaves of Heart FM. Back amongst the greats such as Toby Anstis, Jason Donovan and Emma Bunton, Clearwell can be heard across Worthing, Brighton and the rest of West Sussex.

Clearwell Mobility is pleased to announce that they have renewed their sponsorship of the popular Golden Hour radio show on Hospital Radio Tunbridge Wells for a second year.

The sponsorship renewal of this key show helps the team at HRTW carry on offering the important service they provide for the patients at Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Pembury and Tonbridge Cottage Hospital.

Duncan Gillett commented after the renewal; “Hospital radio plays an important role in boosting patient’s morale when staying in hospital. We are pleased to have the opportunity to support the Golden Hour in particular as we know it is very popular amongst our elderly customer base.”

After answering a plea in the Worthing Herald for used postage stamps our showrooms stepped up and have been collecting old stamps from both customers and staff, all to be donated to the Royal National Institute of Blind People. The RNIB provide help and support to those suffering partial complete blindness across the UK and rely on a great deal of fundraising throughout the year to keep them going.

On Wednesday, Sally from our Worthing branch presented Sue and Howard who collect stamps for the RNIB with the final collection of stamps, totalling over 17,000! These stamps are sorted by volunteers like Howard and Sue and then sold in large batches at special auctions up in London with all proceeds going to the charity.

During 2015-2016 the RNIB raised an a amazing £25,017.70 through the sale of used postage stamps and are aiming on beating that total this year. All of our showrooms are continuing to collect your used postage stamps, both UK and overseas, for donation to the RNIB to help them

We have replaced our entire stock of standard sealed lead acid batteries with brand new Haze Gel Batteries. This breakthrough in battery technology provides the user with increased reliability, performance and lifespan all for a fractional increase in price.
