Varilite Zoid PSV Wheelchair Cushion
VAT RELIEF
VAT Exemption and VAT Relief are two phrases you may have heard a lot when looking at mobility products.
Most of our products have two prices - one with and one without VAT. VAT Relief is available on products specially designed for use by those with a long term medical condition or illness in a personal or domestic setting.
We hope that this guide will offer some explanation of who and when you can claim VAT Relief as well as the process of how to claim VAT Relief at the time of ordering online and in store.
Why Two Prices?
Most of the products on this website have two prices - this means that this product qualifies for VAT relief and can be purchased without paying the VAT.
This status is given to products which are specifically designed to be used to relieve the symptoms of a chronic illness or disability.
Where a single price is shown, the product does not qualify for VAT relief and the price includes VAT.
Am I Eligible?
Where two prices are shown for a product, the lower price (which excludes VAT) is available to those who are chronically sick, disabled or terminally ill. Chronically sick means that you have an illness that is likely to last a long time (such as arthritis, angina, etc). Disabled means substantially and permanently handicapped by illness or injury.
You do not have to be registered disabled to claim relief from VAT, but the nature of your illness or disablement must be specified in your declaration.
Unfortunately you do not qualify if you are elderly but able-bodied or if you are only temporarily disabled or injured.
How do I claim?
Claiming VAT relief is simple and quick. There are no assessments and you do not need to provide medical proof of any disability or condition. You simply need to fill in a quick form either online, in person or through the post.
Online
You will be asked whether you wish to claim relief from VAT during the checkout process. If you do wish to claim you will just need to state the illness or medical condition you are suffering from and tick to confirm that you wish to claim exemption and that the information you have provided is correct. It's that easy!
In Store
When buying an item in store it is just as easy to claim VAT relief as it is online. Our friendly staff will provide you with a simple form to fill out where you simply need to list your condition, name, address and provide a signature. It takes under a minute to fill out and can help save you a lot of money.
By Phone
If you would like to place your order by telephone and wish to claim VAT relief, we will have to charge you the VAT initially and then refund it to you once we have received a signed declaration. Once we receive your telephone order, we will send your goods to you along with a VAT declaration form for you to sign and send back to us using the Freepost address provided. Once we have received your signed declaration we will refund you the VAT difference to the same card you paid with.
We are required to retain a copy of your declaration and it may be passed to HM Customs & Excise as evidence of your eligibility. Details / Varilite Zoid PSV Wheelchair Cushion
Therapists recommend the Zoid PSV for individuals who need a low profile, tapered cushion without a medial thigh separator. Athletes value its lightweight design and vibration impact dampening. On the court. On the track. On the trail.
VARILITE Air-Foam Floatation, coupled with multi-stiffness foam, delivers superior pressure distribution. Functional areas of the Zoid PSV are created by three types of foam: soft foam for the decubitus-sensitive area of the Its; medium foam for the thigh trough and pelvic bucketing; and firm foam for the perimeter.
The PSV takes the guesswork out of cushion adjustment. It releases air to immerse the user in the foam, which conforms to the user and distributes the user's weight over the surface of the cushion. When the PSV senses that enough air has been released, it automatically shuts off the flow of air for optimal pressure distribution.
Tapered design, low profile, stability, comfort, and simplicity have made the Zoid PSV the preferred performance cushion for active wheelchair users. Ultralightweight, its tapered shape makes it ideal for rigid chairs, and its cover is designed to protect the thighs of users with tight hamstrings or who tuck their legs under their chair.
Air and Foam floatation
Functional areas of the cushion are created by three types of foam: soft foam for the decubitus-sensitive area of the Its; medium foam for main seat support area; and firm foam for the perimeter.
Bonding Zoid PSV foam to coated fabric makes the cushion hold air. A valve releases air to immerse the user in the foam, the foam conforms to the user, and the user's weight is distributed over the surface of the cushion.
Independent research has shown VARILITE air-foam floatation to be the #1 impact and vibration dampening technology (RESNA 2000).
Positioning Supports
Extra-firm, bevelled foam increases lateral stability and sitting balance, while a large ischial pan protects the pelvis in both anterior and posterior pelvic tilt positions. There's no medial thigh separator, so lower extremities can drift naturally into midline for better fit in a tapered chair.
Four-way-stretch Fabric
Two types of fabric are bonded to Zoid PSV foam. Four-way-stretch knit is used on the top for maximum conformity during immersion, and nylon fabric is used on the bottom for added strength and durability. Both fabrics are puncture and water resistant.
VARILITE's PSV takes guesswork out of cushion adjustment and makes it automatic
Zoid PSV uses VARILITEs revolutionary new Pressure Setting Valve (patent pending). The PSV works by sensing the amount of internal cushion pressure. As air is released, internal pressure decreases and the user is immersed in the cushion for effective pressure distribution.
The PSV is marked with three pre-set positions, which provide the best range of immersion for most users. The therapist determines the PSV position that results in optimal pressure distribution for a client. (A therapist can mark a different position on the PSV if the user falls outside the pre-determined range.)
Sitting on a fully inflated Evolution PSV, the client simply opens the PSV to the appropriate position. When the PSV senses that enough air has been released, it automatically shuts off the flow. The client closes the PSV. Adjustment is simple and consistent.
Ease of use improves user compliance. A therapist can select the Evolution PSV with confidence, knowing that a client or caregiver can adjust the Evolution PSV easily for optimal pressure distribution. The first time. Every time.
Cover
Stylish and functional. Four-way-stretch mesh fabric wraps around the front edge to eliminate seams. Reticulated foam inside promotes air exchange and improves pressure distribution. The underside is a rugged nonslip material with hook and loop for added security. Zoid PSV cover meets ISO 7176-16 ignition resistance standards for upholstered wheelchair components. Machine washable.
